That’s quite an impressive lineup of films that are due to be released sometime this year, and I’m pretty certain that I’m going to watch all of them in theaters. Yet, there is only one particular film that I’m anticipating above all the rest: <strong>Prometheus</strong>, the long-awaited prequel to <strong>Alien</strong>.</p> <p>Sir Ridley Scott, who directed the two sci-fi classics <strong>Alien</strong> and <strong>Blade Runner</strong>, returns to the genre (three decades after the latter) that he arguably redefined, and that alone is a cause for celebration. In fact, I believe that if <strong>Prometheus</strong> is as great as I expect it to be, it may be among the top three films of Scott’s career.</p> <p>Now, I’ve seen countless trailers in my lifetime, and I’m confident in saying that the ones for <strong>Prometheus</strong> are among the best that I’ve ever seen. Not only is it revealing just the right amount of content for a trailer, it really captures the tone that we expect from the film itself and is very reflective of the original trailer for <strong>Alien</strong>. This, my friends, is marketing at its very best.</p> <p>I’m definitely watching this in IMAX 3-D. That being said, I found myself surprised at how indifferent I was this year. Perhaps it&#8217;s because I haven&#8217;t seen a majority of the nominees, but I think it&#8217;s because it&#8217;s been a sort of mediocre year for the Oscars, particularly with what was snubbed when the nominations were announced last month - there were too glaring omissions.</p> <p>However, I am going to make an effort to predict who&#8217;s going to win.
